STRABASSOTTI 2025
StraBassotti is a truly unique event, created by the founder of the Cuor Di Pelo Association—and still its current President—Sandro Nigro.
It’s a non-competitive walking event that brings together thousands of people and their dachshunds (although the event is open to all animal lovers and dog breeds).
During StraBassotti, you’ll have the chance to admire thousands of dachshunds from all over Italy and neighboring countries, enjoying a memorable day full of fun surprises—especially if you come with company! You’ll also find a food truck for refreshments, many pet-related stands, hobbyist booths, and a variety of dachshund-themed entertainment from 8:00 AM until the event wraps up around 3:30 PM.
The first StraBassotti was held on October 21, 2018. Back then, there were about 500 participants, but over the years it has grown, reaching 5,000 attendees in the last edition in 2024.
It’s a non-competitive event, and all proceeds—after covering organizational costs—will be entirely donated to the Cuor Di Pelo Dachshund Rescue Association, which has been rescuing, protecting, and rehoming abandoned dachshunds with carefully selected families since May 2015.
Many dachshunds will take part in the event dressed up in humorous costumes, so get ready—you’re in for a treat!
We know it’s hard to resist, but dachshunds can have unpredictable temperaments, so please approach them discreetly and always ask the owner’s permission before petting them.
StraBassotti is not just a charity event to raise awareness against abandonment—it’s a unique celebration of the bond between humans and their four-legged companions. A heartfelt tribute to the love and friendship of our beloved dachshunds, who love us unconditionally and are truly part of our families. It’s a symbol of the deep emotions that connect us to them—and to one another—as we unite to protect their rights and well-being.
Participating in StraBassotti means showing our love for dachshunds, supporting those in need, making new like-minded friends, and proving to the world how much we care—and how many of us there are!
